Future Mrs. Garcia :)

On August 16, 2008 the most wonderful thing happened to me....i became engaged to Evan Garcia the most wonderful man in the universe! I must tell you even writing this i become taken back by what such a big blessing God has given me...sometimes it feels like i'm dreaming but than i rem. what a wonderful God i serve and am just taken back by the blessings he gives us!
I can't even explain how happy and excited i am because Evan Garcia is all i have ever wanted and more in the man i married. I rem. High school still when i would drive to school and pray for the man i would marry i prayed God would protect him and grow him into my wonderful husband...its so crazy that 7 yrs later he did...and evan fits everything on my list! Their is just something about finding the one...its like you know he's the one...that i want to talk to when i had a bad day at work...or enjoy a cup of coffee at starbucks talking about life....or when i find out something interesting he's the first one i want to share it with...or he's the one i want to be the father of my kids....he's the one i want to wake up to every morning...i want to enjoy every new moment with him....to me he is my prince charming the man of my dreams and their is no one more perfect for me. Its like my match in a puzzle piece! Isn't God so amazing that he knows who is the best match for our needs and who we are!? God has given me the top of the line i think he's sweet, caring, intelligient and a man after Gods heart and very handsome too! :) So as i sit here and write this i'm over taken with emotions because i have found the man i'm going to do life with and i can't be happier...i let God write my love story and he painted a beautiful masterpiece! It was just last year that i was single with not a marriage in site....i had just learned to become content in my singleness and just fall madly in love with Jesus! Than one of my bestest friends Marcy Ribiero asked me to do a video shoot for the childrens minstry...i was hesitated and complained the whole day about having to go....but i went and you would never guess who i met that day....Evan Garcia my future husband! I rem. thinking man he's cute....but i forgot about it and months later gained the courage to go to elevate myself...where we grew as friends...lol i rem. the first time he talked to me i called Moni and was like omg he talked to me! It wasn't until passion that i knew this was someone worth dating...that he was special :) i will never forget it....we sat next to each other and talked about the things and careers we loved he was so eager to hear me talk about therapy it was amazing that he could enjoy the passion i had to help others he just listened and just really cared it made my heart melt...just a few weeks later we dated and i was as happy as can be! Because i was right he is special and wonderful and the bestest man in the world! And i get him as a husband! Thank you God for Evan Garcia! He is just simply awesome! and i cannnot wait till May! i can't wait to start a new life together and grow old together while watching many star wars movies! lol i can see it now....our house will be like movie central since thats all we ever do...haha

Internships....

The last two days i have actually gotten out of my bed on my lovely summer vacation and spent them at internship training. I must say it was a little overwhelming at first since the only thing i've done since school got out in july was surf the internet and watch tv and play rockband at amys house and well spend time with evan...it could be quite a shock getting two days worth of info thrown at you but i must say i am totally excited! see i learned a few things at my training that i didn't even know about. So let me tell you guys what i will be doing this year to change lives (yay i'm so excited!) The program i am working for is called SUPERB u may think its a dumb name for an in school theuraptic program but its not because it has a cool acryomn! Students Uniting with Parents and Educators Resolving Bullying is a program sponsored by a state senator to stop the movement of volience and bullying in schools in florida. I know your probally thinking but duh thats a part of growing up there are bullies and victims they just have to get over it....Well let throw some stats at you! Did you know that 2/3 of all school shootings are teenagers that have been made fun of seeking revenge! 85 percent of kids participate in bullying in schools! about 50 percent of kids skip school in fear of going because of getting picked on! I know i was as shocked as you when i heard these stats and the stories of kids commiting suicide as a result of a joke inolving a child...or of kids feeling depressed and hopeless as a result of not fitting in...(wow we as humans can be so crude sometimes) Anyways kids and teenagers have quite a challenge in schools with this and so knowing this SUPERB wants to change what has become socially okay and help children get along with each other no matter social class, religion, popularity, or being different. So what i will be doing as an intern is so exciting i will be changing kids lives! i mean hearing some of the stories of kids that lives have been saved as a result of this program just made me so excited to get right in! My responsiblities include running anger mangement groups, individual counseling with kids, peers, and family members, and doing classroom sessions (which i think is fun) where i take over a class for an hour and just have straight up fun with the kids! Its cool because i'm not going to be there teacher or authority figure i'm going to become someone they can trust...someone safe...who can have fun and undersatnd how they feel! I'm so pumped because I LOVE STUDENTS! and so this is like my dream job! So i must say these last 2 days of training were awesome and i am so excited to see how God uses me to impact these kids lives! I also learned a way to stop a bully if your getting picked on which i know some have this problem so i will share...lol
DEFEND!
D-Distract the bully (omg look at that pink poodle!)
E- Emapthy (awww look at how sad he is why do you keep picking on them?)
F- Funny be Funny! (Oh so you say my laugh calls dolphins...well its funny you say that because the other day i laughed and like 3 dolphins showed up at my house!)
E- can't rem. what this one was...lol
N- Say NO! (in a strong voice!)
D- Disappear (no not like houdini...but just leave to the bathroom and don't come back!)
Don't let bullies win! :)

Hey guys so are you as broken hearted as me for people in need? i know over the last few months God has really been pushing on my heart for the homeless of florida...the problem is huger than ever now with economy so bad...i even see it in the therapy room families becoming homeless i mean these are middle class families...and so more and more my heart breaks to help give these people a second chance at a normal life...i mean thats what i would want if i was in their shoes. God calls us to go beyond our biases and stereotypes and help the needy and poor something it took me a while to come to grips with...yes although needy people have alot of rumored habits we need to go beyond and give them a second chance show them Gods forgivness, love and mercy! So my parents have partnered with FRC and Broward outreach center to help feed the homeless....we did our first event on 4th of july...and what a humbling experience that was...grown men weeping for help...families overloading on food because they hadn't had some in months...women with shoes that barely had an bottoms to them...it was truly humbling...i realized more than ever that I as a christian with blessings beyond belief could be such a help to people like these that are worn out and need love and support....so because of that elevate has decided to have an event called hip hop for high tops! Hip Hop for high tops is a giant concert slash party given to help promote the idea of helping the broward outreach center...so heres the thing we decided this would be the best way to hold a shoe drive and it be fun and different! On Aug. 29th we will have a wonderful time of dancers, hip hop, and fun prizes all in the name of helping all you have to do to get in is bring a new pair shoes that than will be collected and given to the homeless of broward! So how cool is that?!?! come support the cause and give another person some hope and support in life. Its a party with a cause...if you want more info about it just go on elevates website at www.elevatefrc.com!

The Dark Knight Weekend

Now in all my adult life i don't think that i've seen a movie so much in one weekend....until the dark knight came out this weekend...i mean i've been known to see pirates 3 times in theatres but never in just one weekend! Who does something like that? well apparantely me and my amazing boyfriend! i guess we really like batman that much. so let me give you the breakdown of
my dark knight weekend:

It all started Thursday Midnight...i mean hello i can't miss the premire of my favorite superhero...i even supported by wearing my batman shirt (which i got many compliments for) saw some fans dressed up! We didn't get out till like 3:30am but it was worth it...i absolutely thought it was awesome.

Friday 9:45pm... me and evan made our way back to the theatre except this time it was westfork regal...with Mr. Garcia and Yvette and of course elevate...this time no batman shirt...or fans dressed up but their was a chaotic line...but we got good seats...i wasn't scared half the movie and i understood alot that i didn't the first time around (so i guess it pays to see a movie twice) and realized how talented heath ledger was....and that maggie needs some eye cream...lol

Sunday 6:00pm... me and evan make our way to imax...thats right people we saw batman in imax...thank u to the most wonderful friend ever moni for buying us tickets! now please keep in mind this has been my second time to an imax movie...my first i was 8yrs. and barely rem. so this was quite an experience in itself...the line was a bit hot and stuffy to get in....but the experience was far worth it! The screen felt like it would swallow me...i felt as though i was flying with batman over gothom...and the fight scene were crazy good...i thought i was so close i would get shot! i loved it! i now can quote every line in the movie...and understand much more than experience 2! Maggie still needs some eye cream...and well heath is just an amazing actor and should at least be nominated for some kind of award and two face suffers from terets.

My rating of the dark knight:
i give it four stars ****!

Its funny, scary, action, mystery, suspense and love all packed in one! Compared to the old batman movies this is a movie breakthrough! I think its worth the $10....heath ledger does an amazing job with joker one worth seeing...and well christian bale as always is a one of kind batman!

My Best Friends Wedding...

This weekend one of my bestest friends got married!!! I must say that it was the most beautiful wedding i have ever gone too! And most fun! We broke it down like no ones business and had some pretty darn awesome dance moves! (right mom she was in the middle of the circle the whole time!)My overall favorite move was the can opener! We played the napkin game...danced to thriller (good job girls we worked hard on our dance!) My other best friend fell for one of the groomsmen yay!!! thanks to my matchmaking skills! Took lots and lots of pictures...cried...and just had a great time! Overall it was AMAZING! As many emotions ran through my head that day i can say that it was a happy day because we all knew it was God sent let me share Nana and Luke's story....In all the years i've known nana (7 yrs to be exact) she has never had a boyfriend....and never seemed interested in boys...she had a bad break up and decided as hard as it would be that she would wait on God...i never heard her complain about being single or wanting someone in fact when we would complain she would just comfort us...so patient she was...and she waited and waited not even concerned by singleness she decided to follow her God dreams to go on many mission trips during college but when she was in college she decided that she loved muslims...and so when she came home she decided God wanted her to live among the muslims and share Jesus! Her family was not in agreement and niether were some of her friends (i was supportive!) knowing how dangerous it was...she told us that it was what God had called her to do and if she stayed here she would be misserable....so God opened the doors and in Sept. of last year she left to Jordan for a year :( i was sad i missed her like crazy but i knew this was the path God had for her...Well he did He had her future husband waiting for her! It was not a week later she crossed paths with Luke Frederick (her husband) and little by little their "friendship" as she so commonly refered to turned into "i like a boy..." i rem. opening the email! I was so happy for her but could not believe that it had happened! When she came home in June we were so excited to meet him! and we did and he was her perfect match...we knew he was the one...and it wasn't long until he proposed in December! 6 months later i am standing at her left side watching her say her vows! This was a love story written by God! So girls if ur reading this...its worth it to hold out on Gods best be patient he's out there! (i know!) :)
